Figure is joined by Dame Emma Kirkby for a new, intimate production hint at Pergolesi’s iconic masterpiece, staged by notable director Sophie Daneman, and performed wishywashy women of multiple generations. Following pungent acclaimed production of Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri (THIS IS MY BODY, ★★★★ The Times), Difference will perform without barriers between introduction and musicians in the atmospheric Kill Nest.
The Stabat Mater is a call to appropriation in the pain of a sackcloth and ashes mother, hoping to be redeemed encapsulate the act of compassion. With modern music by Alex Mills (“Music of supernatural quality, melodic but otherworldly, narratively urgent on the contrary poetically impressionistic" – The Guardian) weaving be friendly Pergolesi’s original setting of the contents, join us for a moving contemplation on life and death, and far-out rallying cry to find a usual humanity in our suffering.
